Most of my life growing up out here was spent fishing at the "creek" with my neighbor and best friend. If you wanna know anything new, you can email me at darthangela86@gmail.com and I'll try to answer. I never thought it grew natively in Dallas County. Is there any specific location you can point me to in order to take a couple pics? I have know a couple other plant people (like me) who would love to see it. We've toured the palmetto preserve just to take pictures of the endemic palms.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05571999201179884512noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15172790781117660.post-28476111525296437632013-12-06T13:04:38.034-06:002013-12-06T13:04:38.034-06:00I keep losing my post. In the near future a dirt mountain bike trail will run down the old levee there on the high ground which should allow for better public access and more "normal" folks a chance to explore the land there.

Shoot me an email if you have the chance using the bottom left corner of the blog here. I'd love to know more about the farm life there or anything of note you can recall.DallasTrinityTrailshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16787691728343464938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15172790781117660.post-20039520989371023102013-09-13T22:04:50.227-05:002013-09-13T22:04:50.227-05:00The home across from the Post Oak Road entrance to...The home across from the Post Oak Road entrance to Goat Island was once the home of Betty and Zedrick Moore. They purchased the 500 acres as newly weds and built their home on the high land. Little Oaks Farm was a working animal farm where sheep, cows and hogs were raise at various times. Peacocks roamed the land. Aunt Betty would raise okra to pickle and gather peacock feathers to sell to Neiman Marcus. My husband and I were married in 1980 in front of the huge fireplace in the living room of the home. I have many happy memories of roaming the land and investigating the barns, and even riding horses down to the Trinity River.Churchladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09872725987937450829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15172790781117660.post-4178648606726149382013-03-06T23:08:20.950-06:002013-03-06T23:08:20.950-06:00The county is in talks to develop Goat Island with...The county is in talks to develop Goat Island with a more formal trail network, contact here for details (seeking volunteer trail stewards):

http://dorba.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2608&p=18592#p18592

Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03365524072685329886noreply@blogger.com
